About Me
My plays include themes of questioning the hypothetical, dystopia, political engagement, forms of crisis including climate and finding the funny in all that. I am a proud people watcher and enjoy putting real people onstage. My plays are mainly set in London and follow the current strain of socio-economic climate we live in today.
My debut play ‘Tea Leaves’ had its professional debut in March 2022 at The Courtyard Theatre in Hackney. The play took place over two nights in a series of rehearsed readings. Tea Leaves was recently longlisted for Masterclass’ Pitch Your Play Competition 2023. Tea Leaves was also within the top 20% of submissions to the Verity Bargate Award 2022 in association with Soho Theatre out of 1300 applicants. It was also shortlisted to the top 30 out of 250 applicants to the Breakthrough: Writers in Residence in association with Traverse Theatre. Tea Leaves made its return at The Old Red Lion Theatre in February 2024, as part of FreshFest, produced by Medium Rare Productions. This was it's professional debut.
My monologue 'High on a Rocky Ledge' was included in SLAMinutes at the Arcola Theatre on the 30th of July 2022. I was longlisted (2023) and shortlisted (2024) in Broken Silence Theatre's Voices from Home Competition. I performed my five minute monologue 'blurt' at The Hackney Den, as part of Anthroplay's Escape Through Words initiative, on the 24th of November 2022. Extracts of the aforementioned monologues were performed at 'Coming Write Up', a new writers night in June 2023 at The Etcetera Theatre in Camden, in association with Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
I have experience facilitating playwriting workshops with Oldham Theatre Workshop and continue as writer in residence with Theatre of Debate, having already completed a residency with East-London based company, Humourisk. I was commissioned by The Theatre of Debate in early 2023, to write a 30 minute play for teenagers about vaccine hesitancy within minority groups. This involved co-facilitating a workshop day in Batley, Leeds.
My next full-length play ‘Film: Don’t Recycle’ has a completed first draft. Please contact if you'd like to know more information. The play was read as part of Masterclass' Script Sessions in August 2023, and a 10 minute extract was read at The Other Palace in March 2024 as part of Masterclass' Script Scratch.
I am currently working on my solo show, which is programmed with The Pleasance for the full run of Edinburgh Fringe 2024. Never Get to Heaven in an Empty Shell is a tragically semi-autobiographical tragicomedy following Claud as she is forced is question mortality and start accepting her own personal grief.
